From the Vaults: Rob Life – Bangers and Mash CD

Again, as part of my efforts to get my downloads / discography page complete with all my old releases or releases with which I was involved, I pulled out this Mix CD put together by Breakin Bread’s Rob Life.

Released in 2004, Boombox Distribution’s “Bangers & Mash, A Collection Of UK Hip Hop Classics” featured as its opening track Lord Laing’s “Do What You Like“, recorded for the Substance “Lyric Superbrand” LP under licence from Different Drummer recordings. The CD features, as the name suggests, a collection of UK Hip Hop classics old and new from artists including Lewis Parker, The Herbaliser, Yungun, Blak Twang, Rodney P, Braintax, London Posse, Demon Boyz, Hardnoise and many more.

Long out of print, you can still find copies from time to time on Discogs where you can also check out the full track listing.

About musicofsubstance

A collector of hip hop, funk, soul, boogie and related beats and jazz based music since the late eighties. Came to prominence as a club DJ through involvement in Substance (one of the UK's largest and longest running hip hop and funk nights) and a 2 year spell as mix DJ on BBC Radio 1Xtra. In recent years a steady output of high profile mix albums has allowed me to DJ worldwide. Currently compiling a series of mix albums for the BBE label and producing an album for BBC New Urban Music Bursary award winning 7 piece jazz / soul outfit 'Maylight'.
