Final week of the Classic Material exhibition

All good things must come to an end and the Classic Material exhibition at City Arts and Music Project is no exception. This week will be the final week that the exhibition is on display, so if you’ve not yet had a chance to check it out, take yourself along to the City Arts and Music Project for a look while you still have the chance. The work will be taken down on 28th of February so we’re extending an open invite to friends anyone else who like to come along to pop in for a beer or two on the evening of Monday 27th to say goodbye to the exhibit and also offer a few bargains on Classic Material products as a thanks for everyone’s support. Hope to see you there…

Chris Read presents “Latin Concrete” (BBE Records) sneak preview

I’ve mentioned this forthcoming release for BBE a few times of late and had quite a lot of people asking what it’s all about so thought I would give a little preview by posting the artwork package for the promo CD up here for all to see. Released via BBE Records on April 23rd, ‘Latin Concrete’ is a percussion heavy mix of modern DJ / producer led Latin styles featuring the likes of Quantic, Oddisee, DJ Center, DJ Monk One’s Greenwood Rhythm Coalition, Beat Fanatic and Captain Planet. If you’re on BBE’s mailing list you may be lucky enough to receive one of these mix CD promos … the full release will be a double CD: one mixed / one unmixed (also available digitally of course).

Release details, launch party and all that good stuff to follow. Watch this space!

It’s been a while since I posted anything on here other than my own projects, but I’ve always got love for the superb read that is Wax Poetics, so when I saw this gem this morning, I decided to break cover. Issue 50 of Wax Poetics (their 10th Anniversary too) is to be their ‘Prince’ issue. They celebrate with an exclusive DJ mix from none other than Dam Funk featuring, amongst other things, some of his own edits / reworks of Prince material.
